LA PÊCHE, May 23, 2018 – Transcollines is honoured to receive a Municipal Ovation Award in the category Transport, mobility and roadwork presented during the Union of Municipalities of Québec’s (UMQ) 97th annual gala held in Gatineau last week.
The distinction at the Ovation Awards is presented in recognition of the innovative character of municipal projects that aim at improving the quality of life of citizens. With a territory that is both peri-urban and rural in character, Transcollines and its partners stood out by unicipal ly implementing a flexible service and offering innovative solutions in order to promote sustainable mobility in less densely poplulated areas. Transcollines is a source of pride for the territory and is a joint collaboration of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais and the Municipalities of Cantley, Chelsea, La Pêche and Val-des-Monts. Transcollines also recognizes the invaluable support of the Ministère des Transports, de la Mobilité durable et de l’Électrification des transports, the Society of Transportation of the Outaouais and the City of Gatineau.
This year, 88 projects were presented by more than fifty municipalities and municipal organizations. Of these, 22 finalist projects were selected in various categories. Transcollines applauds all the unicipal organizations that were finalists, particularly the City of Montreal in the category Transport, mobility and roadwork for its Strategy on the Electrification of Transportation (2016-2020) as well as the Municipality of Val-des-Monts, winner in the category Public Safety for its project of removable, adjustable and pivoting dry fire hydrants.
Innovation remains a priority in the future as Transcollines begins a second cycle of strategic planning with other municipal partners in the area and all Outaouais MRCs.
