Paratransit

What is Paratransit?

Paratransit is door-to-door public transportation for people with disabilities who are unable to use regular public transportation. For more details, users should refer to the Rules of Service, which include a section specifically to paratransit.

Requests for transportation must be submitted no later than noon on the business day prior to the desired service.

Territory of operation

This service is offered by Transcollines on the territory of the six (6) municipalities of the MRC des Collines-de-l’Outaouais, specifically: Cantley, Chelsea, L’Ange-Gardien, La Pêche, Pontiac and Val-des-Monts.

Admission

To use paratransit, you must qualify for the service, according to the Quebec Transport minister’s Eligibility Policy for Paratransit. You must complete the Paratransit Admission Form and return it to us. Please note that some sections of the form require completion by a health professional. Visitors

Visitors from Québec

If you’re already admitted a paratransit service in Québec, your admission also stands valid with Transcollines. If not, you can exploit paratransit services as long as you use a wheelchair for all your trips.

 

Visitors from outside Québec

Visitors from outside Québec can utilize paratransit as long as they use a wheelchair for all their trips.

 

Create your Transcollines paratransit user file in 2 steps:

1-    Contact the organization where you’re currently admitted paratransit and ask them to send us a confirmation of your admission by email at reservation@transcollines.ca

2-     Contact us at 1-866-310-1114 option 1 to create your user file with Transcollines paratransit dispatch.

    • First name
    • Last Name
    • Date of Birth
    • Address
    • Telephone
    • Email address (if applicable)
    • Date of stay and destination address
    • Use of a mobility aid
    • Ability to transfer
    • Presence or not of an attendant

When paying in cash, the user must make sure to have the exact amount since no change is given on board taxis and buses.
Services type
Intra
This pass allows you to travel within the MRC des Collines-de-l'Outaouais territory.
Regular
This pass allows you to make the same trips as the Intra pass. In addition, it allows you to travel to and from Gatineau, according to your travel corridor. Beyond the corridor, additional fees for travel outside the territory apply.
Combined
This pass allows you to travel on the same routes as the regular pass. In addition, it allows you to travel between Gatineau and Gatineau by booking with the STO.

User categories

Basic : Regular user from 6 to 64 years old with no access to the student category.

Student : The user must be a student and under 21 years of age on September 1st of the year the card is issued. Proof of age and proof of registration will be required when purchasing a smart card. Please note that the student status must be renewed every September; therefore, a new student smart card must be purchased each year.

Seniors : The user must be 65 years or older and provide us with proof of age.

Additional information

Paratransit users are advised to keep their receipt. They may be asked for it when they are picked up.

L’Office des personnes handicapées du Québec published a guide for Family support for the parents of a child or of an adult with a disability in December 2017.

A new School Pathway Guide for Parents of a Child with a disability was also published in January 2018.

Vehicles

Minibuses exclusively dedicated to adapted transport

Quantity in service : 2 (plus one back-up)
Seating capacity : 18 to 24
Total capacity : 18 to 24

The vehicles are exclusively dedicated to adapted transport. They are equipped with a lever allowing the boarding and anchoring of wheelchairs. These vehicles can accommodate up to six (6) wheelchairs and their total capacity varies according to the number of anchored wheelchairs.

One (1) additional vehicle is also available to ensure continuity of service in case of unforeseen circumstances.

The fleet dedicated to paratransit is completed with cab vehicles.
